Hormone and menopause

Last updated: 16 Oct 2025

Menopause is the transition from early adulthood to old age. For both men and women, from age 40 to 45, the body undergoes changes, particularly a decrease in sex hormone production. This can have numerous consequences.

In menopausal women, the key hormones that are deficient are estrogen and progesterone. A deficiency of these hormones for more than three years can cause wrinkled skin, osteoporosis, and fractures. It also weakens the body's defenses against coronary artery disease.

In addition to affecting quality of life, it is also a contributing factor to premature death.

Hormones are tested and hormone replacement therapy is prescribed to restore balance. However, taking too much or the wrong type of hormone can be harmful to the body if taken by yourself.

After hearing this, it's best to understand this and allow close monitoring and care from a medical professional.
