There are many hormones in the body that are related to body weight or obesity. They work to control many systems, such as digestion, metabolism, and appetite. If these hormones are not balanced, it can be an important factor that makes us fat. The hormones that affect weight are:

Cortisol
Released from the adrenal glands, it is a hormone that comes with stress. Because when we feel stressed or even fasting, cortisol will be stimulated to be released more to restore the body. But the other side is to stimulate hunger or cravings for sweets. As the saying goes, the more stressed you are, the more you eat, which is the cause of weight gain without realizing it.

Thyroid Hormone
Released from the thyroid gland in the neck, helps control energy metabolism, body temperature, blood fat levels, as well as mood and feelings. If the thyroid gland produces less hormones, weight gain is easy, exercise is ineffective.

Growth Hormone
Released from the pituitary gland It controls growth and helps restore muscles while you sleep. It also helps burn fat. Therefore, if you don't get enough sleep (sleep after 10 pm), your body will lack growth hormone, causing your body to store more fat and your metabolism to work less.

️Insulin
Secreted by the pancreas to control blood sugar levels to be stable, reducing the risk of diabetes. However, if the amount of insulin in the blood is too high (mostly caused by eating carbohydrates such as flour, rice, sweets, and sweet drinks), the body will store more fat than normal. If we still have a habit of eating sweets often, insulin resistance will occur, which is an initial sign that we are at risk of diabetes because our blood sugar (glucose) levels are higher than the standard, causing the body to store more and more fat until we have a potbelly.

️Leptin or the satiety hormone
It controls appetite so that it does not become excessive. Abnormalities of this hormone are related to sleep. If we do not get enough rest The body will have Leptin Resistance. This hormone will not be able to send signals to the brain that it is full, that's enough, so we feel hungry all the time.

️Ghrelin Hormone or hunger hormone
is a hormone secreted from stomach cells. It stimulates hunger. Ghrelin is secreted especially when we feel stressed or anxious, work hard, sleep late or get little rest. As a result, we feel hungry easily and want to eat more even though we are full.
